Hamilton, Ontario

Web design for restaurants people choose before they walk in

Independent kitchens, cafés and multi-location groups — a site that turns “dinner near me” searches into booked tables and direct orders, shows the food properly, and keeps your menu current. Flat-quoted from $1,499.

  • Tap-to-call and book — most of your guests will never fill a form

  • Menus that stay current, and readable on a phone in the dark

  • Two to five weeks, start to launch — built around service, not us

Overview

Restaurant website design in Hamilton, for kitchens that live on repeat guests and want the website to pull its weight too. Most projects land between $1,499 and $4,999, quoted flat before work begins, with a typical timeline of two to five weeks. If your project is bigger than that, we will say so on the first call rather than after a deposit.

The guest decides in about ten seconds, usually on a phone

Someone deciding where to eat is not browsing. They search, open two or three results, and pick the one that shows the food, the hours and a way to book or order without a fight. A PDF menu that will not open on a phone loses the table.

So the site is built around that moment: the menu in real HTML, hours that are actually right, a booking or ordering link at the top of every page, reviews pulled from Google, and photographs of your own plates.

For the slower decisions — a birthday, a work lunch, catering for forty — the same site carries private dining, catering and enquiry forms.

Who it fits

Independent kitchens, cafés and bakeries, takeaway counters, bars, and small groups whose current site is a Facebook page or a template with a PDF menu.

Who it does not

Chains with head-office marketing, or anyone wanting a custom point-of-sale or delivery platform built from scratch — different project, different budget.

What you own

Your domain, your hosting, your content, your bookings — a WordPress site your manager can update without calling us.

Process

How a restaurant website project actually runs

Five stages, two to five weeks for most kitchens: a call and menu map, gathering food photography and your current menus, design, build and booking wiring, then launch and handover. Service comes first, so we work around prep, closing days and whatever your week allows.

01

Call & menu map

The dishes you want to sell more of, the covers you want to fill, your catchment, and who is beating you on Google. We leave with a page map and a flat quote.

02

Menus, photos & reviews

We take your current menus into real HTML, gather food photography, and connect your Google reviews so they show on the site automatically.

03

Design

Home page and the menu first, on your phone screen before desktop — because that is where your guests are. Two rounds of revisions included.

04

Build & lead wiring

WordPress build, booking or ordering links wired in, menus in real HTML so they can be edited in a minute, images compressed, speed tuned.

05

Launch & handover

We migrate, test booking and ordering on a real phone, connect analytics and Google Business Profile, then show your manager how to change a menu in a minute.

Why choose Back9

What a restaurant site needs that a generic template misses

Restaurant website design has rules a generic template never learned: menus that change weekly, calorie rules for larger groups, accessibility law that PDF menus fail, reviews, and a guest deciding on a phone outside your door. These are the things we handle differently, every time.

Built for the “near me” search

Hours, address and a booking link in the header, tap-to-call on every page, and your Google Business Profile kept in step with the site so the two never disagree.

Menus that stay legal and legible

PDF menus fail on phones and fail the AODA accessibility standard, so we build menus in real HTML that you can edit in a minute. If you run twenty or more locations in Ontario, the menu-labelling requirements govern what your menus must show, and we build them so calorie and contextual information sits beside each item rather than being bolted on afterwards.

Found the way guests actually search

People search “brunch Stoney Creek”, not “culinary experiences”. A page per location and per occasion, written the way guests actually search.

Reviews doing the selling

Your Google reviews pulled onto the site automatically, and a post-visit review ask — because a wall of recent reviews fills more tables than any tagline we could write.

Food photography that loads fast

Your plates, compressed and organised by menu section — appetising at full size, still fast on mobile data in your car park.

Fast on a phone, one-handed

Your guest is standing outside deciding between you and the place next door. Big tap targets, hours and booking always reachable, nothing between them and a table.

Photography

Photography that looks like your food

Guests can smell a stock photo. Your plates, your room, your team — that is what convinces someone to book a table. The photographs on this page are illustrative; on your site every one of them would be your own food, shot in your own room, which is the only version a guest will ever believe.

  • A shot list your team can shoot on a phone — every dish, every change of menu.

  • The room and the team, shot once, used everywhere — site, Google profile, delivery apps.

  • Guest and event photos used with permission noted, so nothing bites you later.

  • Compression and lazy loading, so a 40-photo gallery doesn't sink the site on mobile data.

Work to date

What we can show you, and what we won't

We do not publish cover counts or revenue figures for clients, and we are not going to invent any to fill this section. What we will do is walk you through recent builds live on a call and explain the reasoning behind every decision on the page.

FAQ

Questions restaurant owners ask us first

Six questions owners actually ask on the first call — about being busy already, delivery apps, ranking guarantees, photography, direct booking and contracts. If yours is not here, ask it on the call. We would rather answer a hard question early than have it surface mid-build, when it costs both of us time.

We are already busy. Why do I need a site?

Because the guest who has not been in yet is checking you on a phone right now, and a dead Facebook page or a PDF menu sends them next door. A site with a current menu, real hours and recent reviews stops you losing the covers your kitchen has already earned.

Will this replace UberEats or DoorDash?

Different job. Delivery apps rent you a customer and keep a cut of every order forever. Your own site takes direct bookings and orders at no commission, and every dollar of ranking you build is yours. Many kitchens run both for a while — then quietly push regulars to ordering direct.

Can you guarantee I rank first for “restaurants Hamilton”?

No, and no one honest can — those results are controlled by Google and weighted heavily to reviews and proximity. What we control is the technical foundation, the location and menu pages, your Google Business Profile and the local signals. Anyone promising a position is selling something they cannot deliver.

I don’t have professional food photos. Is that a problem?

No — phone photos of your actual plates beat stock, because they are what the guest will be served. We give you a simple shot list, clean up what you send, and the site launches with real food. A half-day shoot of the room and signature dishes can be added any time.

Can guests book or order directly from the site?

Usually, yes. We wire in OpenTable, Resy, Tock or a simple enquiry form for bookings, and Square, Toast or your own ordering page for takeaway. We confirm what your system supports before quoting, not after.

Am I locked into a contract after launch?

No. You own the domain, the hosting account, the site and every lead in it. Care plans are month to month and cancellable, and if you would rather maintain it yourself we hand it over and train you to do exactly that.
